Happy thinking out loud Thursday!
As sad as this is to say, Bestie has officially gone back to LA. Cue me crying in the fetal position. As amazing as it was to have her here, I still can’t believe that the visit has come and gone. Bestie, weren’t we just planning this trip like, last month?! Guess we will just have to plan another one for the near future, huh? 😉
Alright, let’s get random!!
1 Ya’ll this time change has got me struggling for real. Other than trying to adjust to the sun’s new schedule I’m also kind of fighting off a bit of a cold [just congestion!], so my energy levels have been super low lately.
Opie looks exactly how I feel
Thankfully my cold hasn’t expanded past the congestion stage, however I was battling a pretty severe sore throat for a day or two in the beginning. Here’s to hoping that I can kick this thing sooner rather than later!
2 Guys, why is it that when we are super excited for something it seems to take forever for that moment to come and then when it’s there – BOOM! its over in a blink. That’s how I feel about my visit with Bestie. It just went by too dang fast!
Shoutout to my super fit Bestie!
We had a really good visit together though and I’m really glad that she made the drive to come visit me. Seriously guys, that girl is literally the other half of me. Just like the Grey’s Anatomy quote, Ninja may be the love of my life but Bestie is my soul mate. Yep – she’s the Christina to my Meredith!
3 And of course Bestie didn’t come without her tiny Nugget! Seriously ya’ll, this little beauty is over a year old and the tiniest little human I’ve ever seen.
4 Other than our daily gym time, Bestie and I were pretty low key with her visit. I still had to do some work so thankfully Bestie and Nugget were more than willing to be my taste-testers. You’ve already seen one of the recipes they sampled, but I’ve got another one coming up soon that I’m really excited about!
One thing we did make sure to do though? Treat eachother to some Dunkin!
Almond milk latte with shots of coconut
Though the weather in my parts is starting to heat up, I stuck with warm lattes because it felt really good on my poor raw throat. Bestie got iced!
5 I also made Bestie a little “Welcome” package of goodies from around here that she can’t get in LA. Most of it was from a local farm stand, however I did sneak in one homemade treat!
I made a double batch of these bites the day before Bestie came so that she could use a few as a pre-workout snack like I do each morning. These beauties do the job every time. It’s my go-to, no-fail pre-workout!
6 It’s taken me months to get back to this spot, but guys I finally am back to deadlifting 185lbs!!
Before injuring my back the first time last year I was easily deadlifting 22lbs, however the last time I threw out my back I had only crept back up to 185lbs, and that’s where I’m at again.
I felt really good this week with my deads. Everything felt engaged, everything felt smooth – but I reigned in my ego and chose not to push past 185lbs. I kept the reps low and only did 5 reps at 185lbs for 3 total sets. To be honest I know that I could’ve gone heavier – but slow and steady wins the race! This chick is not about to get hurt again. Now if only I could get back to squatting….
7. And because I like to tease you guys, here’s a preview of whats to come on the blog next week!
Side note – I am on a roll with all these savory dishes! I’ve posted 4 already this month!
Who am I? 😉
