Oh this post is going to be so random and all over the place today. You ready for it? 😉
Thanks to Amanda for allowing me to Think Out Loud and let the thoughts flow freely!
1 You guys remember that strawberry obsession from last month, right? Well, it appears that it may continue into June and July because I just got my own strawberry plant!
Just look at that beauty!
I purposely bought a plant that had some nearly ripened berries already, so though I didn’t technically grow this beauty, I still claim it as my own. Hey – it was in my soil and under my care for 3 days. That has to count for something, right? 😉
2 Speaking of new purchases, I hit the jackpot at Target the other day when I spotted the YASSO bars on sale at 3 boxes for $10.
While the Sea Salt Caramel is my all time favorite [that swirl is to die for!] I have to say that the other two flavors were really delicious as well. It’s going to make choosing my next box pretty tough…
3 I’ve got a new recipe in the works that I am super, duper excited about. I’ve eaten two batches of them thus far but I have yet to deem it “blog worthy” because I’m still working out the kinks. I did a cute photoshoot for them anyway though, just so you guys could see them [and to practice my photography!]
Any guesses as to what’s inside? 😉
4 Speaking of new recipes, I actually posted a new energy / snack bite recipe on Instagram the other day! I’ve decided to start posting more recipes on there as well, though they will mostly be for quick recipes such as smoothies, snack bites, etc.
These bites are freaking amazing. I actually brought them to work and a co-worker was super inquisitive about them, so I’m making her a batch as well! The color freaked her out a bit but as soon as I explained why they were so bright yellow, she relaxed a bit 😉
Be sure that you follow me on Instagram so that you don’t miss out on any recipes!
5 While we are on the topic of the gym, I have something really cool to share with you guys. After taking more than a year off of heavy squats, I am finally back up to squatting 135lbs!
Super awesome lighting in that room…
I actually had no idea that I even put 135lbs on the bar until after my first set. As you can see from the photo, I have two 10lb plates, two 25lb plates and then two more 10lb plates all on a 45lb bar. I don’t really even think I was processing the weight as I put it on. It wasn’t until after that I realized what I had done!
Unfortunetly my back did tighten up on me on my last set so I only did 8 reps, however I’m still super excited about it! I’m going to try them out again today and see how they feel. Slow and steady wins the race – or in my case, increases her squat weight…
6 Though I love lifting heavy, I have to say that shopping for this body freaking sucks. I am not built for women’s clothing these days guys! Which is why I’m thinking of just buying 10 different rompers to wear all summer long.
While I don’t like having to basically get naked to go to the bathroom [which I have to do often thanks to my coffee and water consumption], I do like how free my quads get to be in rompers! All of the shorts I’ve tried basically make my stubs look like sausages stuffed into the wrong sized casing – How’s that for a visual? 😉
7 Little Bro turned 18 on Sunday, which is still something that I’m trying to wrap my head around. I haven’t expressed it as much here on the blog, however it really is affecting me more than I thought it would. So much so that I basically wrote him a novel in his birthday card, something my family thought was hilarious since I’m the “writer” of the family.
I think I may be struggling so much with this change because I know that after this summer, Little Brother will be moving to Nebraska for college and I don’t know when or how much I’ll get to see him. I spent 16 years of his life away from him and now that I’ve finally gotten the chance to be a bigger part of it, he’s grown up and moving away to college.
I don’t know – I guess it’s just a lot harder than I thought it would be. I knew this day would come, and I’m glad it has because it’s what Little Brother wants, but it’s like getting a little taste of heaven and then being thrown back down onto earth.
For two years I’ve had both my siblings within 7 minutes of me – something that we haven’t had our entire lives. And now one is leaving and it just kind of feels like this big emptiness is looming over me. I guess I’m just not very good at processing these emotions yet.
Regardless of my own personal hang ups, I am really excited for Little Bro to get to play college football. We are all so proud of him – I just wish we could cheer him on from the stands instead of from our couch.
Do you have a garden? What do you grow?
Are you a romper fan?
Do you struggle with letting go?
