There are only two exercises required in this total body workout. Don’t let the number of exercises fool you though – it’s a killer!
Looking for a crazy workout? One that leaves you dead on the floor? Oh good, because that’s what kind of workout this is 🙂
I’m one of those people who gets bored with workouts easily, which is probably why no two lifting sessions of mine ever look the same. Sure, I make sure to hit shoulders each and every week, but those shoulder workouts won’t be the same exercises, same weight, and same reps. NOPE! That’s boring, and this girl doens’t do boring.
I do apparently, like to attempt to kill myself with a form of torture known only as burpees. Let me rephrase that – 100 burpees. You can thank me later!
The “OMG I’m Gunna Die” Workout
- 12lb dumbbells
- paper & pen [optional]
Yet another down right simple workout from your truly! For this one, perform 10 repetitions of exercise one [thrusters] followed immediately by 10 repetitions of exercise two [burpees]. If it helps [which it will because by set 6 your lungs will be burning and your legs will be crying and you’ll have lost track of sets] jot down the set you completed.
Thrusters – Hold a pair of dumbbells in each hand. Lift dumbells to your shoulders. With your feet hip width apart, lower down into a squat. Drive through your heels and push back up. Immediately press the dummbells over head into a shoulder press. Lower the dumbbells back to the starting position.
Burpees – From a standing postion, drop down into a squat with your hands on the outsides of your feet. Jump back into pushup position and then lower your chest to the floor. Breathe out as you press back up. Jump your feet back into your hands, then stand up and jump with your hands overhead. Repeat for desired repetitions.
What This Workout Targets:
If you’re looking for a quad burning workout that will leave you dead on the floor, then this workout is it. Your quads will be shaking, your heart will be pounding, and your chest will be on fire. 100 burpees will do that to you!
Why You’ll Love It:
This workout does have a lot of sets, but gosh dang if it doesn’t leave you feeling like a total badass at the end. It might not sound appealing in the beginning, I mean who in their right mind wants to do 100 burpees, but I guarantee you this workout will grow on you. It’s just the idea of 100 burpees that is frightening – 100 burpees is actually just a walk in the park! 😉
Any other burpee lovers out there?
