The Easter Miracle That Changed My Life

I wanted to write this post sooner, but wasn’t allowed to share the news until now.  It was so hard keeping it from you guys, but I’m super excited to be able to share this wonderful news with you all!

WARNING: Emotional post filled with pictures ahead. Proceed with the knowledge that the following pictures may make you want to have a child.

Easter is a very important holiday for me and my family. Not only because of the miracle of what Jesus did for us so many years ago, but also because of what He did for us specifically as a family.

5 years ago on Easter I got a call from my sister. I remember it really well. Have you ever noticed how you remember significant moments in your life? Anyway, I was standing in my daddy’s kitchen and Sissy told me she was pregnant. I immediately fell to floor and starting crying while trying to spit out a congratulations to my Sissy on the other end of the line. Now maybe this doesn’t sound like a big deal to you. But let me explain to you why it was for my family.

Sissy tried for a very long time to get pregnant. After 10 years of trying and numerous doctor consultations, they were told they were unable to have children. Of course Sissy was crushed, but being the incredible woman of God she is, she kept her strength and faith and moved on. I figured they might adopt one day or try something else, but I never really thought about being an aunt.

And then came the phone call Sissy was pregnant. I wish I could put into words the joy I felt.  I was in such amazement at the news, that I really couldn’t comprehend what it meant. But here’s what made this pregnancy so special. We knew Sissy couldn’t have children.

But GOD GAVE HER ONE ANYWAY. Only God can preform miracles like these. The doctors all said there was no way. It was impossible. And yet there she was, carrying a baby boy.

After T was born, Sissy and her husband considered having another baby so T could be a big brother. But once again, they were told it was impossible. Doctors told them T was a miracle, but there was ZERO chance of another miracle pregnancy. Sissy and her husband sought out other options, but 5 years passed and nothing happened.

Without a doubt, the cutest kid in the world

My favorite little man!

Seriously, I can’t take it. This kid makes me want to squeeze him and never let him go.

Then I got a call last week from Sissy. It was on Wednesday, just 4 days before Easter. There was something different about her voice, yet something familiar. Sissy gets this sheepish kind of voice when she has something exciting to tell you. As soon as I heard that familiar voice, I got butterflies. Goosebumps spread across my arms and I held my breath until Sissy told me the news.

Seriously 5 years after God gave us T, He is blessing our family with another little one! Can you all see the miracle in this?! Every doctor said NO. They all said it was NOT possible. But because Sissy remained faithful, God blessed her not once but TWICE with a child.

This could not have happened to a more deserving and amazing woman of God. Sure I may be a bit biased since she’s my big sissy, but if you ever met her you would completely agree with me. Sissy is one of the best people I know, and I know how badly she wanted children. But regardless of what you think, our lives are not determined by OUR timing. It’s all in God’s timing. God gave her T when He thought her and JJ were ready, and now He’s given them another. It’s all on His time guys.

Sissy and T

I don’t know how you could read a story like Sissy’s and NOT believe in a higher power. There is no way Sissy could have had children without God. It is all because of His grace and love that she is carrying her second child. There was nothing her, her husband or any doctor could have done to change the situation. God is the only one who could have given her children, and he has.

I seriously cannot express how excited I am to have another nephew/niece.  In case you haven’t noticed, Sissy is my hero and I think she deserves everything in the world. I cannot wait to see all the wonderful things she does for T and her future child!

EVERY child born is a special gift from God, but I have to say that T and his future brother/sister are two miracles that I will cherish for the rest of my life
