Raw Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

A no-bake, raw chocolate chip cookie dough you can eat without the guilt! [or risk of salmonella poisoning…]

IMG_7555 Chocolate chip cookie dough is kind of like my crack. By now you should all know that I have quite the sweet tooth [cheesecake IS my favorite food], but there’s just something about raw cookie dough that has my hand reaching for the bowl.

I blame it on Mom#2. Growing up she used to let me lick the bowl clean when she baked. And by that I mean she’d leave an extra tablespoon or two in the bowl on purpose, hand me a spoon, and let me go to town on that sucker. Who needs soap and water when you’ve got a sugar addicted kid with a spoon, am I right?

Now I know there’s the salmonella thing with raw cookie dough but I’ll be frank, it never even crosses my mind. I love raw cookie dough so much, that I’ve actually considered whipping up a batch of raw dough and freezing it, just so that I could take some out every night to snack on. It’s a sickness, I’m aware.

Which is why I decided it was time for a recipe like this in my life! Of course it’ll never be exactly like raw cookie dough, but it does come pretty close!

A raw cookie dough given a nutrition boost!

  • 2 scoops vanilla protein powder
  • 1/4 cup coconut flour
  • 1/4 cup oat flour
  • 1/2 cup natural peanut butter [or any nut butter]
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1/4 cup almond milk
  • 2 tablespoons chocolate chips

Dump everything into a bowl and mix well. Roll into balls and chill in the fridge to set.

I may or may not have helped myself to four two helpings of cookie dough while shooting these pictures last night. They just kind of rolled into my mouth, you know?

Now if you want a different texture, you can go to all coconut flour or all oat flour. I love the lightness and slight flavor that coconut flour gives, but a lot of time it isn’t firm enough. I mixed it with oat flour to give it some more texture as well as to help the balls keep their shape. Although between you and me, these balls could use some re-rolling….

Now if only I could master portion control….

Do you eat raw cookie dough?

Dough left behind on purpose? You were a lucky duck! Not like my mum didn’t let us munch on cookie dough – or at least we managed to do even if she didn’t want us to – but she wouldn’t have left some in the bowl. I got to lick the beaters when she baked cakes, though. And salmonella? What is that even, haha? Honestly, I’d probably be cautions in summer heat these days – but I don’t bake with eggs anymore so it’s no question. Cookie dough beats baked cookies any time for me. Yours sounds delicious – especially using coconut and oat flour.
