Is anyone else getting totally owned by this time change? Man oh man I am wrecked this week!! I set my alarm for my 5AM workout and that was NOT happening. My alarm went off and I reset it for 6AM. I just cannot get going in the mornings yet! Hopefully by the end of this week I will be back on track! It’s survey time!!
1.) What did you have for breakfast?
The most delicious bowl of quinoa I have ever had. I was actually really craving pancakes, but I ran out of time, so I just threw together some pre-cooked quinoa and scrambled up some eggs! It was BOMB!
quinoa, scrambled eggs, spinach and feta cheese
2.) How much water do you drink a day?
Not enough I’m sure. I drink 2-3 of my water bottles a day, as well as tea, coffee and sometimes a smoothie (made with water).
3.) What is your current favorite workout?
BOXING!! I just got my new gloves and I am loving them.
Opie likes to watch me box. She also likes to lay on my handwraps while I’m trying to wrap up before my workout. I have been killing poor Evie lately with the amount of boxing I’ve been doing. And I’ve been hitting her pretty hard at times! Especially my kicks. Anyone else just want to kick the crap out of something sometimes?!
4.) How many calories do you eat each day?
You guys would probably cringe if you knew how many calories I ate. Kidding, I actually have no idea how much. When I used to track them it was always under 1500, but since I wanted to be eating more I tossed my calorie counting app and just go by my belly! If I’m hungry, I eat. Calories don’t mean anything when it comes to nutrition for me.
5.) What are you favorite healthy snacks?
Considering all I do is snack, I have a lot of favorites! Apples and nut butter, string cheese and pretzels, grapes and almonds, rice cake topped with cream cheese, Luna bars…
Apple & PB with a frozen yoplait greek yogurt
6.) What do you usually eat for lunch?
Leftovers. Unless it’s my day off, then I try to whip up something a bit more fancy and out of the box.
7.) What is your favorite body part to train?
Shoulders or legs. I have been having a lot of fun watching my big arms transform into shapely guns, and I am such a fan of being sore, which is why I love leg day. Is that sick or what? I know, I have issues.
Is there anything better than a home gym? I love the tool bench in the background. Just like a real gym setting right? Not so much…
8.) What is your least favorite body part to train?
Probably back since I don’t see much progress. Working out at home means I don’t have access to all the fancy gym equipment, so the only back exercises I can do really are rows.
9.) What are your bad food cravings?
Well, I don’t look at food as “bad” necessarily, but I guess the more unhealthy foods I crave tend to either be cheese (think quesadilla or nachos), chips and dip, and anything sweet. Gosh I love sugar. I could eat ice cream, cake or just a tub of frosting every night.
10.) Do you take vitamins or supplements?
I take probiotics, MSM, and a women’s multi.
11.) How often do you eat out?
Maybe 2x a week, usually only 1x though. We might grab dinner out before church group during the week if I don’t feel like cooking and we typically try to have a date night each weekend.
One of my favorite meals out! Veggie tacos from Islands
12.) Do you eat fast food?
Yes. I get the Cantina bowl from Taco Bell. I get it meatless, so there’s no nasty stuff in there to gross me out. All it is is brown rice, black beans, corn, romaine, and guacamole. It’s like a lower class version of chipotle. I’m sure it’s not 100% great for you, but Ninja likes Taco Bell, and I’m not going to be that selfish wife that makes him take me places only I like!
13.) Who is your biggest supporter?
This guy! He may not workout or eat like I do, but he has never tried to hold me back or get in the way of what my dreams and desires are. If anything, he wants them more for me than I do!
14.) Do you have a gym membership?
Nope, I do everything in my garage or hit the pavements!
15.) How many hours of sleep do you get a night?
ummm no clue. It takes me about an hour to fall asleep, and even then I wake up in the middle of the night a lot.
16.) Do you have a “cheat” day?
Sure do! But I don’t call it that. I call it date night. When Ninja and I go out on Friday or Saturday night, for the most part I chose healthier food, but sometimes all I want after is a huge piece of cake or to snag some of Ninja’s french fries. I don’t see any “cheating” there, I call that living!
17.) Do you drink alcohol?
Nope can’t stand the stuff. Well that’s not true, I do like Sangria as long as there is more juice than wine.
18.) Do you have a workout buddy?
Just my two girls, Opie and Jax! They consistently beg me to take them for walks, and make doing ab work or any kind of floor work impossible. They just want to be in my face all the time! I guess that’s what fitness coaches do right?
19.) What is the best thing that has changed about your life since committing to a healthy lifestyle?
I can actually look at myself in the mirror without crying. And I can go out to eat with Ninja and not calculate everything I am putting into my mouth and all I have to do the next day to work it off.
20.) What is the last healthy thing you did?
Ate breakfast!! It’s the most important meal of the day after all right?!

What is the last healthy thing you did?

I have always liked you and your blog. But now that I know your dogs are named Jax and Opie makes me like you more!
I can’t get enough of Tig!
Haha thanks!! And my father in laws dog is named Trinity
Your dogs are sure wanting a treat! I wish I could box more, I adored it when my dad used to take me to his classes
First off, can I just say that your pink boxing gloves rock? I think you are so cool for taking up a hobby/workout regimen that’s so different
But, it was that you can be healthy and still enjoy life! <3 xo.
Secondly, you have the cutest “workout buddies” ever.
Thirdly, I like what you said about the best thing about your healthy lifestyle… it wasn’t that you have a rockin’ bod, which you do! Super strong & healthy
Dang, girl, you are STRONG! So inspiring. As are your comments about calories, eating and cravings. Opie and Jax are adorable!
Look at your abs!! So jealous – hard work pays off huh
You’ll need to tell me what ab work you do because I need to get on that train IMMEDIATELY. So many people seem to be totally screwed up sleep-wise this week! I never remember past daylight saving times being this difficult to adjust to; I’m not sure what’s up.
I love that your boxing gloves are pink
And I’m definitely with you on the whole tome difference thing… I think it’s more an issue of jet lag for me, though. Either way, coffee has been a must. And I guess I can say that’s the last healthy thing I did, too – grabbing a cup of java to keep myself from falling asleep at my desk and banging my head on the keyboard
That’s the only way I’m drinking, too — more juice than wine for sure! Love your bright boxing gear
hehehe just in case you don’t notice, me like your crazy abs!
And #19 made me smile because I know how freeing that feeling can be~Also, I can’t get over Opie’s face! Her little lower teeth sticking out are soooo cute….haha.
Dude the time change is killing me, especially because I was in Texas all week, so now everything feels TWO hours earlier haha
Cheese and ice cream are my killers too — I could never give those up! And home gyms are great, I love getting a great workout in at home!
Love this! That quinoa breakfast bowl looks great…as do those veggie tacos! It’s so hard to get good veggie tacos around here!
I love the relationship you and the hubby have…able to do your own thing, but meet in the middle….a great picture of balance in life. So many people feel like they have to change who they are for their significant other, but that is SO not the case! What would we be without all of our own little quirks and “obsessions” <- and I mean that in the best of ways!
The best thing in my life that has changed since adopting a healthy lifestyle has got to be my view on trying new foods. Believe it or not, I used to be such a picky eater, but ever since I discovered blog world and all the interesting and unique foods out there, I've quickly become the girl who will try ANYTHING and I love it…I've found so many new favorite foods/flavors/combos simply by throwing away the close-mindedness I kept for so many years!
Last healthy thing I did? Fixed a mug of peppermint tea!
