This month has seen both a time change and a season change. It’s also seen a heck of a lot of savory dishes from yours truly! 😉
I know I did my “Currently” post for last month as a thinking out loud also, however I felt bad about ditching out on a recipe for you guys yesterday so you’ll get one tomorrow instead and get this recap/monthly wrap-up today! Ready? Let’s go!
Ok so I know that I just said yesterday that I don’t do bandwagons [while simultaneously posting about a bandwagon] but y’all, the Golden Milk trend has to be one of the best foodie trends to explode since the green monster smoothie. I’ve been drinking one almost every night now and am completely obsessed!
Not only do I totally love the flavor but I also love that I am sipping a literal health elixir. So darn delicious.
PB&J Banana Bars – coming soon!
Ugh guys, this recipe will be the death of me. Or rather, the death of any hope I had of having abs this summer. Seriously, these babies are good. Especially when you warm them up and drizzle them with a litttle bit of extra peanut butter. Because what’s a PB&J without the extra PB, am I right? 😉
Forgiven – Crowder
Crowder has been one of my favorite Christian artists since I was in high school. I’ve seen him twice in concert and he has been fabulous each time. This new CD of his definitely doesn’t disappoint either!
I’ve probably listened to the entire album two to three times a day since it’s release, however Forgiven is most definitely the most powerful song to me…
I could’ve been six feet under
I could’ve been lost forever
Yeah I should be in that fire
But now there’s fire inside of me
Here I am a dead man walking
No grave gonna hold God’s people
All the weight of all our evil
Lifted away forever free
Chills y’all. Chills. I highly recommend it if you are looking for some new praise music!
The weather has been getting warmer and warmer each day, which has me craving allll the summer things! Seriously – watermelon, BBQ’s, berries, camping, smoothies, potato salads…
As much as I’m not looking forward to the sweltering heat, my body is so ready for a new round of produce. I’ve already attacked the Spring produce – asparagus included! Be ready for a recipe involving that gorgeous veggie next week 🙂
Sweet & Salty
Did you guys know that I only posted 3 non-savory recipes this month? That’s unheard of! One was that amazing Chocolate Matcha Smoothie and the other two were the above recipes – guess I had a hankering for the sweet & salty combo, huh? 😉
Seriously guys – go check out those recipes. They are both so incredibly simple to make, no-bake and are the perfect sweet & salty treats to curb the craving!
It’s taken nearly an entire week but my neck is finally starting to feel better. After it suddenly seized up on me Friday afternoon I battled neck pain that radiated down into my left shoulder and arm. I couldn’t turn my head left or right, couldn’t lower it down to my chest and thus couldn’t use my left arm for much either. Seriously, I could barely put my hair up!
Thankfully [after lots of heating pads, baths & foam rolling] it seems to be on the mend. I took nearly the entire week off from any kind of upper body lifts [except for Monday, which resulted in an extremely painful Tuesday] and that seems to be doing the trick. I’m going to give it until next week before I even attempt any shoulder exercises!
To Get Baking.
Did you guys pick up your copy of Amanda’s new cookbook? If not, what the heck are you waiting for?!
Amanda was one of my very first blog “friends”. I have had the privilege of meeting her twice and she is just as sweet and adorable in real life as she is on her blog. I was beyond ecstatic when she announced her cookbook and let me just say – that girl did not disappoint! The recipes in this book guys – there are no words! And her photos? DROOOL!
The only issue that I’m having with it is that I literally cannot decide which recipe to make first. They all look and sound so amazing! I have a feeling it’s going to be a mug cake though – especially when the late night sweet tooth craving hits!
2 Timothy 1:7
For God did not give us a spirit of timidity but of power, love and discipline.
An incredible opportunity opened up for me this month, one that I am not quite ready to announce yet, but my low self-confidence, lack of self-belief and incredible amount of self-doubt almost kept me from pursuing it. And let me tell you guys – I almost did. I went back and forth about it for an entire day, lost an entire night’s sleep and woke up in the moring still uncertain and anxious.
But I could feel God nudging me. That morning as I got ready this verse randomly sprang into my mind and I knew right then – God wanted me to take a step of faith, to be bold for once in my life and to follow this path that He had laid before me.
Nothing is set in stone. It could all still fall through in the end. But you know what? I did something I thought I never could – I believed in my abilities.
I actually made a totally idiot move this month when I deadlifted 195lbs by complete accident. I thought that I had loaded the bar with 185lbs but forgot that I was using 45lb plates instead of 35lb plates, thus pushing the complete weight on the bar to 195lbs. It was only after I finished my deadlifts that I realized my mistake – much to my surprise and of course, happiness!
Do you guys have any idea how stoked I am to finally be back to deadlifting heavy weight? Squeeee!
Seriously, I’m so happy. I actually have been able to keep myself in check though and haven’t pushed beyond 195lbs yet [even though I want 200lb so badly!] because I know that I need to take it easy on my back to ensure that it doesn’t slip out again. I haven’t deadlifted this week due to my neck injury but I’m hoping to get back to it next week!
And that’s it for this month! Can’t wait to see what April brings 🙂
