Happy last day of June! 🙂
As with the end of every month, I’m recapping my favorite things and discussing some “currents” on the blog today. Ready? Let’s goooooo.
It’s taken Ninja and I about a year to do it but we finally got our garden boxes together this year. We have two out of the three filled and everything has been flourishing – which makes me super happy! Now I’ve got fresh herbs at the ready [basil, parsley and cilantro] as well as strawberries, zucchini, bell peppers and tomatoes.
Just look at the size of those zucchini!
Unfortunately the bell peppers and tomatoes haven’t produced yet – there is produce there but it just hasn’t ripened! It’s like slow torture for me. Everyday I go out there like, “come onnnnn little plants!”
Soooo no one should be surprised about this one 😉
I shared two recipes this month with quinoa – and they were posted back to back. Not even sorry about it! Beyond the recipes that I shared I also started using quinoa as an oatmeal replacement.
And it is delicious.
I know that the hype surrounding quinoa died down about 5 years ago, but I’m only just now really starting to like the superseed! It’s taken me a while to develop a taste for the texture of it but now that I have, I’m pretty much eating it daily.
It’s camping season y’all!
Ninja and I officially booked our first camping trip of the season and I could not be more excited about it. We took our pups to the river a few weekends back to see how they would do – and they both dove right in! Even my tiny maltipoo braved the cold water – I was so proud of her. Jax is half German Shepherd so I wasn’t really worried about her but since Opie hates baths so much I pretty much figured she would hate the river. I was so happy to be wrong!
I doubt she would go into the river on her own but she ran right in after Jax and I, so at least she isn’t afraid of it. Of course the water was a tad bit cold for her at 9am – she was shaking like a leaf afterwards!
That cookie dough fudge that I made for Ninja’s birthday? It didn’t last two days. Yikes…
After polishing off the last piece I was debating whether or not to make more when I remembered the need to re-vamp the photos from my Cookie Dough Blizzard recipe. So instead I re-made that recipe – which of course reminded me of how much I adored it!
So yeah – currently craving all things cookie dough.
NuNaturals – Health Warrior
I have been so unbelievably blessed this month with product samples. The awesome people at NuNaturals sent me a killer package with all sorts of products to try out. My favorites thus far have been the Cocoa Syrup and the Cocoa Mint Syrup. Y’all if you can buy that stuff, buy it. So good!

To find a soccer team
It’s been way too long since I’ve been on a soccer field.
Though I have a big backyard and have plenty of room to do drills and play around, nothing compares to the feeling of playing in a game.
I miss sprinting
and getting side cramps
and slide tackling
I need to find a soccer team to play on. Like, yesterday.
Though half of this year is now over, the above sentiment is one that has really resonated with me as of late.
This idea that each and everyday is a new chance – a new opportunity – to grab ahold of life; to chase your dreams; to live each day instead of just let each day pass you by. These are the thoughts that I’ve been focusing on lately.
I think that too often we get wrapped up in the “future” – we base everything off of that end goal or that future picture we have for ourselves and thus forget about the right now. Right this second you are alive – you have breath in your lungs and a beat in your heart – do something with it!
Today is more than just another day, it’s another day to be alive.
What’s the use of life, if you don’t live it?
