Happy last day of August!
You know, I thought with the beginning of September coming [bring on Fall!] that the weather in my area would finally calm the heck down, but apparently that thinking is wrong. Every day this week has been over 100 degrees, with temperatures in the evenings only dropping down to about 75. I literally wake up at 4am with temperatures already nearing 80 degrees. It’s not fun, y’all. Not fun at all.
But what is fun is updating you guys on some of the currents in my life right now, so let’s get to it!
This month I had the chance to try Fabletics for the first time and I can 100% say that I am obsessed with it.
My mom lives right by a mall that has a store front and they were having a super good deal so she picked me up a few items and had them shipped to me. Unfortunetly they didn’t fit but fortunetly Ninja was headed down there for work so he was able to exchange them for the correct sizes.
I’m seriously in love!
I don’t think I’ll become a member of the site [ that’s a dangerous road for me – workout clothes are my weakness!] but you’d better believe I will be asking my mom to purchase me some more for Christmas and my birthday!
Then again, becoming a member really does sound appealing…
I just recently began working with the Wella Bar company [which I’m super pumped about!] and I can honestly say that they have some of the tastiest flavored protein bars I’ve ever had. Not only do they use real, wholesome ingredients in their products but they also give a portion of the sale of each prodcut to fund research and enhance the health of honey bees. How freaking awesome is that?! I love supporting companies that give back – especially when the food they make is delicious!
Five More Minutes – Scotty McCreery
This song came out at pretty much the perfect time. With Brother leaving for college and Little Sissy starting 8th grade, I’ve been really impacted this month by how quickly time goes by and how much I long for it to slow the heck down. What I wouldn’t give for just five more minutes with them…
This weather, y’all – it is straight up trying to kill me. I’m seriously just super annoyed and over summer. Brother is away at college and Little Sissy is back in school – heck, even the produce has begun to change! It’s time for the weather to adjust itself accordingly.
That being said I’m sure when winter rolls around I’ll be crying and complaining about how cold it is at 4am when I get up for work…
No surprise here, huh? 😉 All you have to do is take a look back at the recipes that I’ve posted this month and I think you’ll be able to see what I’ve been craving most recently.
It’s been one heck of a tasty month 😉
Brother coming off the red shirt list
At the beginning of this month Brother left for college to start his football camp. Since he is a freshman his coaches had planned on red shirting him this year [along with nearly every other freshman] however an injury to a starter as well as the lack of performance from the back up player had the coaches bumping Brother up to a playing spot on the team.
This means that now every weekend my family and I can stream the games and watch Little Brother out there smashing and tackling. I’m so excited as well as incredibly proud of him!
A coffee replacement
I’ve decided that I’m going to give up coffee for the month of September, something that I’m not 100% sure I’ll stick with but something that I definitely want to explore. My primary reasoning for this is my skin. I’ve never had the best skin, however since going gluten-free I’ve noticed a drastic difference. I still struggle with hormonal acne though and I know that coffee can sometimes make that worse [the acids in coffee cause inflammation], so I’ve decided to give up my beloved coffee for a while to see if it helps.
I don’t have any issues giving up the caffeine [I can literally go days without coffee without any headaches / withdrawals ] however it is a comfort / habitual thing for me. I’m not trying to replace it – literally nothing will ever 100% replicate coffee, I don’t care who tells you otherwise! – I just want to find a good quality substitute that can become my new norm. Ideas?!
Outdoor / HIIT Workouts
If you’ve been following along to my Insta Stories lately I’m sure you’ve noticed that I’ve been doing quite a lot of outdoor workouts lately of the HIIT variety. Now I know that I just ranted and raved above about the heat, and trust me it is blazing hot out there when I’m working out, but the workouts that I’m doing take less than 20 minutes so I just grind through it.
These outdoor workouts are actually my second workout for the day, which is why they are super short and focused on high intensity, and though it is freaking hot and miserable out there I’ve been having a ton of fun! Allowing myself this little sweat break during the day has really helped with my focus, not to mention it just gives me such a great endorphin rush!
And there you have it – my currents for August! I still can’t believe that this year is nearly over, but I must admit that I am excited for what opportunities September may bring my way 🙂
YOUR TURN! What is your current:
