Happy WIAW!! And boy am I glad that today is basically over. We had seriously crazy winds last night, and I was up at 2AM praying that the tree in our backyard didn’t fall on our house. I of course tossed and turned the rest of the night, so I’ve been living off coffee and tea today. Needless to say, I’m glad that all I have left today is to make dinner, train Bestie, and relax!!
The last few mornings I have been craving nothing but comfort food. Maybe it’s because it’s been so cold here in the AM, but seriously every morning I either want a fatty muffin or biscuits and gravy. I decided to go with the biscuits and gravy. Maybe I’ll make some fatty muffins for the next time the craving hits!
homemade biscuits and sausage-less gravy, eggs, and either berries or cantaloupe
Apparently I’m the only one who likes biscuits and gravy. Ninja basically balked at me when I offered to make him some. He takes his biscuits with jelly and eggs with ketchup. What a kid.
Other than breakfasts, I’ve been pretty good at loving on my veggies! I have good days and bad days, but this week has been a really good one so far in terms of veggie consumption!
roasted veggies and feta stuffed in wheat naan with berries, apple doused in cinnamon, celery with PB
And then we had dinner. Talk about more comfort food. I’ve been trying to get a few new recipes under my belt since I’m sure Ninja is bored after 3 years of the same dinners, so I whipped up my first ever meatloaf!! I think it turned out ok. Ninja didn’t say much about it, but he ate it all, which must mean it was good right?
turkey meatloaf, homemade fries, and cauliflower
I was literally so stuffed after this plate, I didn’t want to move. I probably shouldn’t of had all those fries, but that wasn’t even half the pan! I used 1 giant potato for both of us, and it made more than enough. I was actually planning on making asparagus instead, but Ninja gave me the “I don’t want to have smelly pee” look. Guess I’ll just have to sneak in the asparagus in some other meal.
I’ve got a super exciting workout to share with you guys tomorrow!! I bought a new toy, and can’t wait to show you!! I feel like such a bada$$ (sorry, this is a cursing free blog, so deal with my dollar sign S’s!!)

Do you ever get a comfort food craving?
What do you normally crave?

The meatloaf looks great! I’ve never tried making some, but I know bob would be thrilled if I did! I crave kabocha squash and sweet pptatoes when it comes to comfort foods–I could eat tem all the time.
Mmmm that meatloaf left my mouth watering!!! I totally agree that the winds have been quite mid-west ish and crazy! It makes the vents in my house whistle, lol. Have a great day, Kat!
I crave comfort food all of the time! Some of my favorites include chicken and dumplings, burgers, french fries, and ice cream. Yum!
oh man so delicious, especially that dinner. I have actually never had biscuits and gravy.
I’m not a huge gravy person on my biscuits either… actually, I hate the way it makes them all soggy. That was always my brothers fav. meal while growing up. Supposedly Hardees (you have them where you live?), made some good ones??
My body must be wonky because even with the super cold weather, I’ve been craving cold fruits and yogurt. Once in a while I’ll crave a bowl of hot oats or some chicken, potatoes, and gravy, but for the most part my cravings just don’t make sense.
Biscuits and gravy are the best and your husband is missing out! My dad nicknamed my sister and I after them when we were younger (I was stuck being gravy as the second born…).
I can absolutely go to TOWN on homemade fries like that, so I understand the urge to want to eat half the pan! But then yeah, I feel like a stuffed sausage after… at least they are not fried and good for ya
I am with you on the super cold weather and wanting more comfort foods- soup has been my jam lately, along with oatmeal, sandwiches (comfort to me) and that sort of thing. I am already far too excited for warmer weather ahhh
Yum, I love biscuits and gravy! What a great way to start the day!
I tend to crave comfort food the most when I’m overwhelmed/stressed out. And comfort = hot food (tomato basil soup, cheesy pasta etc.)
