Looking Forward to 2013
I’m not really one for resolutions, so don’t expect a list from me. I find them to be counterintuitive to be honest, with most people forgetting their resolutions by February. My issue with resolutions is that people look at them in terms of the entire year. For example, “I want to be healthier in 2013.” Well as each month passes by with no progress, you keep pushing it back. “Ok well I will start up next month.” “Oh I have 6 more months of 2013, that’s plenty of time!” And before you know it, the year is coming to an end and you have nothing to show for it.
I believe in setting short term goals, ones that you can keep track of each month and build on. If your ultimate goal is to get healthier in 2013, than break it down each month. In January, start eating more fruits and veggies. In February, add on another goal, like going for a walk each day. Those are all attainable and buildable goals that you can achieve and motivate yourself with. Don’t set yourself up to fail. That’s something I’ve learned the hard way.
I am so overjoyed to have another year to spread God’s love and make more memories with Ninja. I have been blessed more than I should be, and way more than I could ever say thank you for. God has truly guided me through 23 years of life so far, and I can’t wait to see what opportunities and challenge He brings me in 2013. Regardless of how successful, popular, or famous I may become, one thing that never changes is God’s unwavering love for me. ![]()
This is the birthday card I wrote myself this year (with some comments from my mother in law!). I hope to hold on to this mindset as we transition into a new year. I’m learning to let go of the past and the hurt that came with it, and instead focus on the now and the joy it brings.
Don’t hold yourself back from what you deserve. You are more than you give yourself credit for. Always remember that.

Do you make New Year’s resolutions? If so, what are yours for 2013?
What was your favorite 2012 memory?

That is such an awesome letter and a great idea to write one to yourself. I might have to “borrow” that idea for myself!
Here’s to a great new year!!!
Happy New Year’s Eve my beloved friend! I cannot wait to see the fun and joys 2013 will bring to you! <3
awww what an awesome post, and amen to all those sweet words regarding you! you’ve grown so much and I’m excited what else 2013 has in store for you! Happy new year!
Favorite memory of 2012? Probably meeting the boy
But meeting you was pretty darned awesome too! I’m not really big on making resolutions either, but I’ll definitely be working on become a better version of myself. That’s something that I’m constantly trying to do, though, so the new year doesn’t really change much… except that I’ll probably be making mistakes when signing the date for the next month or so.
I’m with you and a lot of other bloggers when it comes to feeling mehh about NY. I especially hate the gym resolutioners that hog my classes for a couple months. I go to those classes EVERY week, and then the people that come for Jan-Feb are SO annoying! Ok I’m done bitching. I love that birthday card to yourself, great idea!
I’m giving myself goals for 2013, but no necessarily resolutions. I do like to set goals because it gives me a year to complete them! However, I don’t like to call them resolutions because they aren’t the typical “I want to lose weight” blah blah blah.
I love that you wrote a letter to yourself. I know some of my friends just write about their current life and then look back on it on the New Year. Seems like fun!!
PS those PB Cups look SO good
the idea of writing a letter to yourself, as others have said, is awesome. I can’t wait to see what 2013 has in store for you
I completely agree with your outlook on resolutions, Kat! To be effective, they need to especially be SPECIFIC! If you want to be “healthier”, you need to break it down into what exactly that entails!
Wishing you all the best for 2013!
Hunnie, you are such a beautiful person. Continue being you, and never stop believing in yourself <3 Happy New Year!
Happy New Year’s! And what an inspiring post and message! You (okay, we all) are going to rock 2013!
I remember your first vlog!!! I loved it!!! Have a great start to the year!
